PSPDFKit Web SDK and PDF Viewer

From 2017 to 2020, I was a senior frontend engineer at PSPDFKit, now Nutrient. I worked on a small web team building a browser-based PDF viewer and JavaScript SDK that other businesses embedded in their products.

Fun fact, PSPDKit was the company founded by Peter Steinberger, the creator of OpenClaw.

Building an SDK for Other Businesses

I designed and delivered features across the viewer and its developer-facing SDK, including the web experience and API for real-time comment collaboration. This involved coordinating the frontend with the PDF engine, backend and design teams, while making the features available to businesses building on the SDK.

I worked on virtualized document rendering and a virtualized comments sidebar to reduce how much of the interface needed to be rendered at once. I also worked on code splitting for server-backed and standalone WebAssembly installations and on faster standalone loading.

Working With Developers

I designed SDK APIs, wrote documentation and provided direct technical support to customers integrating the SDK. I also led feature work and mentored engineers.

I wrote about WebAssembly startup performance and accessible React modals.
